Why this is easy
Namecheap has one of the cleanest DNS interfaces of any registrar. The steps below use their Advanced DNS tab — it's simpler than it sounds.
1

Log in to Namecheap

  • Go to namecheap.com and sign in
  • Click "Domain List" in the left sidebar
2

Manage your domain

  • Find your domain in the list
  • Click the "Manage" button on the right side
  • Then click the "Advanced DNS" tab at the top
3

Add the CNAME record

  • In the Host Records section, click "Add New Record"
  • Set Type = CNAME Record
  • Set Host = www
  • Set Value = sites.servicepromagic.com
  • Set TTL = Automatic
  • Click the green checkmark to save
TypeCNAME Record

Valuesites.servicepromagic.com

4

Set up URL redirect for the root domain

  • In Namecheap, go to the "Redirect Domain" section (below the DNS records table)
  • Enter your root domain (e.g. yourdomain.com) in the Source URL field
  • Enter https://www.yourdomain.com in the Destination URL field
  • Click the save checkmark
Source URLyourdomain.com
Destination URLhttps://www.yourdomain.com
Type301 (Permanent)
This makes yourdomain.com automatically send visitors to www.yourdomain.com. Do NOT add an A record for @ with an IP address — those IPs can change.
5

Delete conflicting records (important!)

  • Look for any existing A record with Host = "@" or CNAME with Host = "www"
  • If they exist, delete the OLD ones — keep only the records you just added
Namecheap sometimes has default parking records — these need to be removed before your domain will point correctly.
6

Verify in your dashboard

  • Go back to your ServiceProMagic dashboard
  • Click Domain Settings
  • Enter your domain and click "Verify DNS"
  • DNS changes typically take 5–30 minutes (up to 48 hours in rare cases)
Once verified, your custom domain will be live!

Troubleshooting

"I see a 'Parking Page' or 'Coming Soon' record"
Delete it — this is the default placeholder record that needs to go before your new records can work.
"CNAME conflicts with existing records"
In DNS, only one CNAME per subdomain is allowed. Delete the old www CNAME first, then add the new one.
"The Advanced DNS tab is greyed out"
Your domain might be using Namecheap's BasicDNS. Switch to Namecheap BasicDNS or Custom DNS in the Nameservers section first.
"Will this affect my Namecheap email?"
Only if you accidentally delete an MX record. Do NOT delete any records with Type "MX" — those handle your email. The three records you need to add are CNAME, TXT, and URL Redirect only. Leave everything else alone.
"It's been over an hour and it's still not working"
Use dnschecker.org to check if your www CNAME is resolving to sites.servicepromagic.com — select "CNAME" from the dropdown. If it shows up there, DNS is done and we just need to verify it. Still stuck? Email support@servicepromagic.com.
