One-click setup — no DNS knowledge needed
GoDaddy supports automatic DNS configuration via their "Domain Connect" standard. Just click Auto-configure in your dashboard, approve the popup in GoDaddy, and you're done. It updates your A record and TXT verification token automatically.
1
Enter your domain in the dashboard
- →Go to your ServiceProMagic dashboard and open Domain Settings
- →Type your GoDaddy domain name (e.g. yourbusiness.com) in the input field
- →Click "Detect DNS" — we'll confirm it's a GoDaddy domain
You'll see a blue card labeled "One-click DNS setup" appear once we detect GoDaddy nameservers.
2
Click "Auto-configure →"
- →Click the "Auto-configure →" button in the blue card
- →A GoDaddy popup window will open asking you to approve the changes
GoDaddy uses a standard called "Domain Connect" that lets trusted services update your DNS automatically — the same technology used by Squarespace and Office 365.
3
Approve in the GoDaddy popup
- →Review the changes listed in the GoDaddy popup
- →Click "Connect" or "Authorize" to approve
- →The popup will close automatically when done
GoDaddy will automatically update your A record and add the TXT verification record. No manual editing needed!
4
Verification begins automatically
- →After the popup closes, your dashboard will start verifying your DNS
- →GoDaddy DNS changes usually propagate in 5–30 minutes
- →You'll see a green "Verified" badge when everything is confirmed
That's it! Auto-configure handles everything: the A record, CNAME, and TXT verification token.
Troubleshooting
"I don't see a DNS button"
→ Try clicking the three-dot menu (⋮) next to your domain name — "Manage DNS" will be in that menu.
"I can't find the A record with the "WebsiteBuilder Site" value"
→ GoDaddy may display it as a plain IP address (like 184.168.x.x) with Name "@". Delete any A record with "@" as the name unless you know it's pointing to something you set up yourself.
"I get an error saying the CNAME record already exists"
→ There's an existing CNAME for www. Click the pencil ✏️ icon to edit it instead of adding a new one.
"I don't see a Forwarding section below the DNS records"
→ Try scrolling all the way to the bottom of the DNS management page. In some GoDaddy layouts it's collapsed — look for a "Forwarding" heading or a "+" button near the bottom.
"Will this affect my GoDaddy email?"
→ Only if you accidentally delete an MX record. Do NOT delete any records with Type "MX" — those are for email. Only delete the A record with Value "WebsiteBuilder Site" as instructed in Step 3. Everything else can stay.
"It's been over an hour and it's still not working"
→ Use dnschecker.org to check if your CNAME for "www" is resolving to sites.servicepromagic.com — select "CNAME" from the dropdown. If it shows up there, your DNS is done and we just need to verify it. Still stuck? Email support@servicepromagic.com.
"The auto-configure popup opened but nothing happened"
→ Make sure pop-ups are allowed for GoDaddy. Try refreshing and clicking Auto-configure again. If it still doesn't work, use the Manual Setup tab.
Ready to verify?
Head to your dashboard and click Domain Settings to confirm your DNS is set up correctly.
